Terminal 3 - Strengthening Airside SecurityMelbourne Airport

Construction of a new screening point in Terminal 3 to facilitate movement of goods between airside and landside, as well as creating more efficient access for airport staff. The Strengthening Airside Security (SAS) project has come into effect following government legislation requiring national airports to upgrade to CT screening. Project included demolition as well as refurbishment of existing back-of-house spaces.

The Challenges

As with all Airport projects, a safe working site was to be maintained, taking into consideration all personnel entering the terminal, with the works delivered with no interruption to other areas of the airport.

Site access was via the busiest road within the airport – Airside Rd – and thus safety and efficiency were of utmost importance.

Our Solutions

With our invaluable experience, MAZ successfully navigated these challenges and completed this project using a determined approach by the delivery team. We prioritised the safety aspects above all else. Following that, we considered the quality of the build at every single stage of the project and stayed in close consultation with the Architect and consultants to ensure we exceeded client expectations.
