With the aim to achieve the Australian Government’s aviation standards for 100% CT screening and body scanning at all passenger security screening points at Airports nationally, Melbourne Airport engaged MAZ Group for the installation of 2 additional lanes, 7 & 8, in Terminal 4. Owing to the size and shape of the two CT scanners, access into Terminal 4 was only possible through a temporary portal created in the exterior wall of Pier G, at a height of 6.7m. Coordination and precision were crucial, as the team worked tirelessly to shift the 3.2-tonne machines up onto a loading deck and through the portal with only 20mm either side to spare. |
